Pitch deck design
A successful pitch is half the battle when looking for
an investment. How to get investment is a sore point for all startups. What and
how to show the investor to get money for the next stage? Let's take a look.
What is a pitch deck? Pitch is a verbal
presentation of a business plan. A pitch deck is, in the terms we are used to,
just a presentation, the same file in PowerPoint or Keynote that you will
polish at night, rehearsing your pitch.
Let's get a little clear first: it's your
business model, your vision as a founder, and your ability to envision that
will determine whether you get your funding or not. We will not argue with
this. However, the design of your presentation matters.
Creating a vibrant pitch deck
can say a lot about where your company is and your ability. All internet
companies rely on high engagement and high conversion rates for maximum and
quality growth, and the only way to achieve this is through great UX design.
Whether you are using a pitch deck
presentation template or hiring a professional pitch deck developer,
this presentation reflects the ability of you and your team to create a product
that is intuitive enough for mass adoption.
The best pitch decks are an extension of
what the startup is already doing. They show what is already being done, how it
is being done, and how it can be done better with more money. Without a doubt,
the best pitch decks are a compelling investment case.
Make sure your presentation slide has
legible content. Use large, bold fonts with contrasting backgrounds. It is more
than just aesthetics. Nobody wants to waste energy reading a slide. If the text
is not easy to understand, your audience will lose interest and disconnect.
The main problem when considering the text
is how much is enough and when to stop. Most presentations stem from previous
material, such as pages of documents, and from the fact that people tend to go
a little overboard when adding information to a presentation. And the problem
is, if a slide is filled with text, people either completely ignore it in order
to listen to you, or worse, ignore you when they try to read it.
The best advice we can give you is not to
write everything on slides, but only use keywords to help your audience keep up
with your story. Keep your text to a minimum. Break it down into simple pieces.
Each slide should convey one idea that does not require rhetoric to decipher.
What about charts? Answer: the simpler the
better. A good chart is not one that contains a ton of data, but one that
clearly represents what you are explaining. If you are using charts or graphs
on a slide, this information should be obvious. Think about how the numbers or
facts relating to your main premise, and focus on what you want the audience to
get out of the slide.
Keep in mind that people remember images
better than text. Be sure to add eye-catching photographs to highlight your
thesis. Images should be relevant, vibrant, and unique. High image quality
allows you to reproduce this visual effect on a slide. If you need to add
additional text, use half the space for the letter and the other half for the
image. Don't try to squeeze in too much; One high-quality image is enough,
which summarizes the whole central theme. If you need multiple images on a
slide, be sure to place them aesthetically. Add borders or frames to each image.
As a general rule, images are best for summarizing your story.
Remember, the best pitch deck presentations
demonstrate that you understand what your business is and who your customers
are, but are not missing out on an opportunity to reinforce your brand with
investors.
